Now this record won’t come down anytime soon. I still think the NFL misses LaDainian Tomlinson. He was a superstar of the highest magnitude and along with Adrian Peterson, are the links back to all time great running backs. His 31 touchdowns in a single season and 186 points are records that won’t be approached within the next 30-40 years.

On this date in football – December 17, 2006 – LaDainian Tomlinson set a new NFL record for the most individual points in a season. The San Diego Chargers running back eclipsed Paul Hornung’s 46-year-old point total record of 176 when he rushed for a 14-yard touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs. By the end of the season, L.T. reached a staggering 186 total points, which still remains the record to this day.
